CPR --- Continuous Chest Compression

Hope you find this interesting!

“Every three days, more Americans die from sudden cardiac arrest than the number who died in the 9-11 attacks. You can lessen this recurring loss by learning Continuous Chest Compression CPR, a hands-only CPR method that doubles a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. It’s easy and does not require mouth-to-mouth contact, making it more likely bystanders will try to help, and it was developed at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine”.

"This video is worth sharing," said Gordon A. Ewy, MD, director of the UA Sarver Heart Center and one of the research pioneers who developed this method.

Good information, thank you. It seems that every time I take another first aid/cpr class, guidelines have changed. Do you remember when we were trained on how to use a tournaquit? Now that is forbidden. This CPR method looks easy to remember and simple to follow.

I like this method best of all because mouth to mouth today can be deadly.

I just re-certified in CPR. They still teach the old method of 30 compressions and two breaths, but strongly advised only giving breaths through a rescue breathing mask, which I have in my personal kit.

Rose, a tourniquet is still advisable if someone is bleeding out, no matter what might be taught. If my arm or leg is severed and my arteries are gushing my life blood all over, by all means put on a tourniquet!
