UPDATE; #10 Cans, Long Term Storage & Spoilage

I e-mailed Honeyville Farms about the bulging #10 can of Tomato Powder with some photo’s. Their response follows:

I have issued your replacement can which should arrive in the next 5-7 business days.
Please discard of the bulging can you currently have.

Kindest Regards,

I was hoping they would want the can back so they could examine the contents to see what is growing inside but as you read they just want me to discard it.

  1. Mike, It's less expensive just to have you toss the can, and mail you a replacement. What a shame, I would want to know what's going on there.

    1. If I was Honeyville I would want that can back so my lab could determine what the issue was. They could have hundreds of cans like this out there and people could get ill or worse. But it's their call.

  2. Now I'm wondering if I should pull all #10 cans out and have a peek. Some are not so easily reachable. Hmmmm...

    1. It would be best if you take the time and effort to inventory and inspect all your #10 cans and all other stored food now. It would be a disaster for you to find out most of the food you have is inedible when you need it to live on.

  3. Thanks for the update! That is crazy that they wouldn't want to see what happened considering it could be happening elsewhere or even happen again but I guess they just write it off as a loss and move on. Going to check our storage this weekend and see how everything looks and "feels".

    Thanks again!!
